Ahmedabad Plane Crash: An Air India flight crashed near the Ahmedabad airport today, with initial inputs suggesting around 252 passengers were onboard.
The incident is believed to have occurred when the flight was taking off for London. Heavy smoke is visible from Dharpur near the Meghaninagar area.
The fire brigade has rushed to the spot, and emergency response teams are being mobilised. Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the crash.
An Air India plane with 242 people onboard on Thursday crashed in Gujarat’s Meghani Nagar area near Ahmedabad airport. Visuals of the plane crash site shared on social media shows thick willow of smoke emanating from the area.
The aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1:39 pm from runway 23. It crashed in just five minutes after take off, according to details shared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
So farm 30 deaths have been confirmed while several others have been taken to the hospital for treatment, according to CNN-News18.
